So first blog of the semester this time is for portfolio class, once again with Mr. Paco Melo.
Anyway, this article talks about this analogy called "The Core Creative Concept in Branding" created by Kim Zarney (which is weird that a guy is name Kim :P) he said that desing briefs are like stir frying cooking.
Kim said that the key to prepare stir fry you need to hace ready all your ingredients before you get started. This will be more easy and you'll save time. I'ts the same with design you need all the stuff to flow easily and design stuff more quickly.
The autor says that the clients needs design for yesterday (ASAP) and we as designers need to adpt to the schedule of the client. I'm not a 100% agree to this statement because almost all the time clients are so difficult, like they change the copy when the design is almost over ¬¬.
There are some "inflexible elements" like te budget we need to know what's the budget of the client and we need to work with that budget, for example you have this great idea but you need like a 100 box to print this awesome flyer but the client budget is 50 dlls. For this case you can have a plan B. You need like a program of what you will need and when you have to do it.
You need to research about the project like the target, the competiton, why etc.
So graphic design stir-frying is very important to make the process of graphic design more easy.
Ta Ta! :P
